If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words is a video worth? You tell us! This Christmas we’ve got three special videos the children made for just you posted below. Merry Christmas, and may God bless you throughout 2017!
“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6
First, Gracie the Whale was able to make it out to our Naples Park and Golden Gate Christmas Celebration! programs this year, to the delight of everyone. These shows are so special we made a video to share with you some of the best moments from that weekend!
Second, while she couldn’t get to our other programs this time, Gracie the Whale visited all our other school locations. She sang Christmas songs with the children, gave out hugs and high fives, and spread holiday cheer. It was wonderful!
Finally, we had the kids say what was on all our minds: Merry Christmas to all of you! You are such a blessing to us, and we want to thank you for the opportunity to serve your families and the Southwest Florida community.
See you in 2017!

Our Christmas programs and gift exchange were extremely successful. You can find links to all our photo albums from the shows here, and for the gift exchange here. We had a couple thousand people come out for this year’s shows, and the crowds were enthusiastic! We couldn’t have done it without you. This has truly been a festive holiday season so far, and let us be sure to remember the reason for our joy:
“And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger. And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.” Luke 2:4-10
We can hardly contain our excitement! One of the highlights of our year, the annual Grace Community School Christmas program, is coming up on December 4 (for our Port Charlotte location) and December 5 (for everyone else). We have a great show to put on for you, with wonderful music and some awesome dance moves. Our kids and staff have worked for weeks on this, and we are confident you will love it!
Please note that students need to arrive 30 minutes before the start of each show. The dress code for children in the show is Christmas colors.
One of the things we have learned over the many years we’ve done programs is that people LOVE photos! We’re going to make it easy for you to get all the photos you want. Every photo we take on-stage during the show will be available online via our various social media accounts. Facebook and Twitter will have live updates throughout the shows so you can follow along. You will be able to get special videos on our Instagram and Vine accounts that you won’t find anywhere else.
ALSO: If you sign up for the Grace Community School email list, we’ll even email you the links to each school’s program photo albums and dance recital albums after the shows. Sign up here!DVD’s will also be available! We will be video recording each program show for your enjoyment. These DVD’s are just $5 each, and will be sold in each school’s office starting the week after the show. You may want extra copies as many people send these to grandparents and relatives as Christmas gifts — everybody will love them!
We’d like to remind you again about the Grace Community School email list because we know you want to know what’s going on! The email list will make sure you never miss a dress-up day, party reminder, or special event again, so be sure to sign up at this link or on the left-hand side of this blog. See you soon!
I know what you’re thinking: it’s only October, right? Nevertheless, practice for Christmas Spectacular! 2015 is underway. It doesn’t take long to get the kids singing Christmas songs, and this year’s song lineup is especially catchy. We’ve already had some kids insisting on showing us what they have learned before they go home in the evening. The kids are very proud of their performance, as well they should be! Putting on these shows is a lot of work for both kids and staff. We practice for more than two months for every show learning the lyrics, movements, and parts. It is not an overstatement to say that it is one of our most anticipated events of the entire year.
Programs are a fantastic way for the students to show their families and friends what they have learned, and kids love singing! You’ll never see parents prouder than at a program. Our shows are very well-attended, and we welcome all to come. Attendance is free, just get to the show early to get your seats! Many times grandparents, aunts, uncles and other family members schedule their vacation times so they can come for our shows. We think that is wonderful!
2015’s Christmas program will once again feature a recital from the Grace Community School Dance Class — if you want your child to take part in that, talk to the office about enrolling in Dance Class soon while we still have room! You’ll love the dance recital costumes we’ve picked out, too!
If this is your first Grace Community School program, you’re in for a real treat. If you’ve been to lots of our shows before, you know how awesome it’s going to be! We’ll be announcing the program dates, times, and venues for all Grace Community School locations soon. Until then you can ask your location for details about which classes are participating. ¡Feliz Navidad!
